Charisma Carpenter was born July 23, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The
actress was named after a bottle of perfume, but this did not
significantly affect her growing up, other than for her to realize she
would ultimately one day walk a different path. She graduated from
Chula Vista High School, a school of creative and performing arts.
Wanting to be a teacher, Charisma followed the road of the struggling
artist, not truly knowing where she would wind up, working briefly in
property management, a video store, and when she was twenty-one, as
a cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers.
Charisma got her break when she
had a chance to guest star on "Baywatch," moving on to the unsuccessful
and short-lived "Malibu Shores," but made her mark and found a home as
Cordelia Chase in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," much to the approval of
her legions of fans. Charisma is an athlete and outdoor buff, having
once worked as an aerobics instructor, and she still likes to stay fit.
Life after Buffy is hard to predict, but the next opportunity could
propel her to greater things.
