Jenna Elfman was born Jennifer Mary Butala on September 20, 1971 in Los
Angeles, California. Educated at LA High School where she majored in
Arts and the Beverley Hills Playhouse, she married Bodhi Elfman, an
actor, in 1995 and so became Jenna Elfman. In the beginning, she wanted
to become a nun, but a class clown, she decided entertainment might be
more suitable. Although she found some work in commercials, it was her
early training in classical dance that led to a ZZ Top's Legs Girl and
being discovered at the Sunset Boulevard House of Blues by ABC.
Jenna's first series, "Townies", was quickly cancelled despite rave
reviews for her. The networks vied for her services and ABC won, giving
her the leading role in Dharma and Greg. She has since moved on to the
big screen, playing a professor in the comedy "Krippendorf's Tribe,"
along with Richard Dreyfuss and Lily Tomlin.
Jenna also appeared in the feature film, "Grosse Point Blank," with John
Cusack, and has guest-starred in comedies such as "Roseanne" and dramas,
including "Murder One" and "NYPD Blue" which saw a role for among others
fellow actress
Elizabeth Berkley.
