Kate Beckinsale was born July 26, 1973
(Year of the Ox)
in London, England, the daughter
of actor Richard Beckinsale and actress Judy Loe. While still a
student, Kate won the W.H. Smith's Young Writers' competition twice,
once for short stories and the second time for poetry.
Kate enrolled in College where she studied Russian and French
literature, but it was in college that she joined the student community
theatre groups to pursue acting. Spending her third college year in
Paris, she won a lead in a French movie: "Marie-Louise Ou La
Permission." Sporadic work followed in movies, voice-overs, and
television serials. It wasn't long before feature films followed.
Kate's more recent films include "Pearl Harbor," alongside Ben Affleck.
