Michelle Trachtenberg was born October 11, 1985 in New York, NY.
Starting her career at the age of three, Michelle first showed up in a
detergent commercial, and later appeared in more than one hundred other
commercials. She had convinced her mother, a former actress and
puppeteer, that she wanted to be on television. A fan of Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, she wound up on the show playing Dawn, the younger
sister of Buffy. She had earlier worked on the soap "All My Children,"
alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) and the two had remained good
friends, so the move to the same successful show was not entirely
unexpected.
An education-conscious girl, Michelle has been active in many charities,
especially those emphasizing children's organizations (Starlight
Children's Foundation.) According to Michelle, "... Education is
really important. It's the most important thing in my life." But the
demands of Buffy the Vampire Slayer have forced Michelle to exchange
high school for tutoring.
